QFP was founded in 2002 as the exclusive distributor for Italy of the optical and laser 3D scanning systems developed by the German company Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH, today Carl Zeiss Optotechnik GmbH. From the very beginning, QFP focused on non-conventional metrology and progressively expanded its portfolio with solutions from leading international brands, while maintaining a clear focus: the technological and application-driven evolution of non-contact measurement.
2002: The origins
QFP begins its activity as the Italian distributor of Steinbichler systems, introducing advanced 3D scanning solutions to the national market. At the same time, the company starts providing outsourced measurement services to support companies without in-house resources. Its consulting-based approach and ability to design tailor-made solutions lead to the development of the first robotic cell with COMET technology, created in collaboration with a customer and Steinbichler.
From 2005 to 2015
To meet new technological challenges, QFP has formed strategic partnerships with leading manufacturers such as AICON 3D Systems, Third Dimension, InnovMetric, and Inora. In recent years, the company has participated in international aerospace projects (A380, A330, B737, ATR, etc.), contributing from the concept phase through certification. The number of automated systems installed at major facilities such as FCA (Pomigliano, Melfi, Cassino), AgustaWestland, and Alenia is also growing.
From 2015 to today
With the launch of QBOX, QFP introduced its first standard measurement cell for automated laser scanning, which is now used in numerous production facilities. This marked the beginning of a major corporate reorganization that reinforced the company’s focus on automation. In 2015, QFP became the official distributor for ZEISS Optotechnik in Italy. Since 2022, it has been a strategic partner of Creaform—part of the AMETEK group—consolidating its role as an integrator of advanced technologies for metrology and automated quality control.
