MetraSCAN 3D is a portable optical CMM for dimensional inspection in production, designed to combine metrological accuracy, inspection speed, and operational flexibility.
MetraSCAN integrates perfectly matched accessories and offers flexibility for a wide range of applications. Performance is verified through tests conducted in Creaform’s ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratories; acceptance testing for the product line is based on the VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 standards. Blue laser technology supports scanning on a variety of surfaces, including glossy and reflective ones.
For data acquisition, MetraSCAN 3D uses Creaform.OS™, the integrated operating software for FARO CREAFORM systems, which provides real-time mesh visualization and feedback during measurement. Creaform Metrology Suite™ completes the workflow with modules dedicated to Scan-to-CAD, Inspection, Automation, and Dynamic Tracking.
The MetraSCAN 3D series enables fast scanning with real-time mesh visualization. The MetraSCAN BLACK+ and BLACK+ Elite use 30 blue laser lines (+1 extra line) and achieve up to 1,800,000 measurements per second; the MetraSCAN BLACK2 uses 46 blue laser lines (+1 extra line) and achieves up to 2,800,000 measurements per second.

It is now possible to capture 3D data from objects of various sizes more quickly, with greater precision and accuracy certified in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 17025 standard. Thanks to its high versatility, the MetraSCAN 3D allows you to scan parts of various sizes and surface finishes in real time using the same device.
The Automatic Volume Extension allows you to expand the working volume in accordance with the accuracy specifications for each model and configuration. BLACK2 also extends the recommended component size range up to 10 m.
Quality control and verification

The design of MetraSCAN 3D has been ergonomically adapted to the operator’s needs, enabling an intuitive and effortless scanning process. Thanks to its reduced weight (less than 1.5 kg) and compact sensor housing, the system is particularly suitable for data acquisition even in the most difficult-to-reach areas.

The MetraSCAN 3D series includes configurations with different performance levels: BLACK+ achieves an accuracy of 0.035 mm; BLACK+ Elite and BLACK2 achieve 0.025 mm. At 9.1 m³, the volumetric accuracy is 0.075 mm for BLACK+ and 0.064 mm for BLACK+ Elite and BLACK2. For larger volumes and automatic scaling, the specifications of the individual model apply.

The system integrates the C-TrackTM optical tracker, which enables dynamic referencing during inspection.
